Rain On Your Wedding Day

Your wedding day is a momentous occasion filled with love, joy, and anticipation. You've meticulously planned every detail, from the flowers to the seating arrangements, and you're hoping for a picture-perfect day. However, Mother Nature sometimes has her own plans, and rain can be an unexpected guest at your wedding. While it might seem like a disaster, with the right mindset and a few preparations, you can turn a rainy day into a memorable and magical event, above all don’t let a little rain dampen your spirits. With some creativity and a positive attitude, a rainy wedding day can still be beautiful and memorable. Here's what to do if it rains on your special day:

1. Embrace the Rainy Aesthetic:

Rain can add a touch of romance and whimsy to your wedding day. Consider embracing the rain and making it a part of your wedding theme. You can provide guests with cute umbrellas or rain ponchos, even some fancy welly boots for you and your maids.

2. Have a Backup Plan:

If your wedding ceremony or reception is planned to be outdoors, or under a tipee it's crucial to have a backup plan in place. Rent a tent or an indoor venue as a Plan B to ensure that the celebration can continue regardless of the weather. This way, you won't have to stress about sudden rain showers.

3. Keep Guests Comfortable:

In case of rain, make sure your guests are comfortable. Provide towels or blankets for damp chairs, and consider getting a few extra umbrellas just in case. You can also designate a coat check area so guests can leave wet jackets and shoes behind.

4. Capture the Moments:

Rainy wedding days offer unique opportunities for stunning photographs. Work with your photographer to capture beautiful and candid moments in the rain. Embrace the wet conditions and let your love shine through in the photos.

5. Your Flowers:

While your flower arrangements will probably handle a little rain , they do in nature after all! They won’t look as lovely if they are sitting under a continuous heavy downpour. So keeping your bouquets under your umbrella is a great idea and if you have arranged to have urns or arches it maybe an idea to move them inside the entrance to your venue or church. The wonderful thing is that we make most of the floral arrangements off site and deliver them the morning of the wedding so we can assess the situation and make a decision as to where to place them as an alternative. Flowers always thrive in cooler temperatures and if you have anyone who suffers with a pollen allergy a little rain will keep the pollen count down, making your guests who suffer much more comfortable.

6. Plan for Hair and Makeup:

Rain can wreak havoc on your carefully coiffed hair and makeup, so make sure you have touch-up products on hand. Hire a professional makeup artist and hairstylist who are experienced with wedding-day weather challenges.

7. Communicate with Vendors:

Keep an open line of communication with your wedding vendors, especially the caterer, to ensure that they can adapt to any changes due to rain. Flexibility is key in managing unexpected weather conditions.

8. Stay Positive:

Finally, and most importantly, maintain a positive attitude. Remember that rain on your wedding day is considered good luck in many cultures, symbolising fertility, cleansing, and a fresh start. Focus on the love you share with your partner and the joy of being surrounded by friends and family.

9.Dance in the Rain:

Who says you can't have fun in the rain? Embrace the spontaneity of the moment by dancing in the rain with your spouse. It's a beautiful and memorable way to celebrate your love.

In the end, your wedding day is about celebrating your love and commitment to each other. Rain or shine, it will be a day filled with precious memories. So, embrace the raindrops, dance in the puddles, and make your rainy wedding day a story worth telling for years to come.
