There’s something very special about creating wedding flowers at Doddington Hall. It’s one of those venues that gives you so many possibilities, whether you’re dreaming of a relaxed English garden feel or something a little more elegant and abundant.
One of the things we love most is the choice of where to hold your ceremony. You can marry outside, surrounded by the beautiful gardens and historic setting, or choose the main house for a ceremony with a completely different atmosphere. And, of course, the flowers can help make either space feel entirely your own.
For an outdoor ceremony, we absolutely love placing two generous flower-filled urns either side of the ceremony table. They look sensational against the backdrop of Doddington and create a beautiful focal point without taking away from the setting itself. Even better, arrangements like these can often be moved afterwards and enjoyed again during the reception.
Flowers for the Coach House
The Coach House is a wonderful space to flower because it works beautifully with a natural, romantic style.
One of our favourite places to add flowers is the large window. A stunning floral arrangement here immediately draws the eye and brings softness and colour into the room. It's a lovely opportunity to create something abundant and a little bit special — particularly using seasonal flowers with plenty of natural movement.
Round Tables or Long Tables?
Another lovely thing about a Doddington Hall wedding is the flexibility you have when it comes to your reception tables.
Round tables look beautiful with a central arrangement, whether that's a generous footed bowl, a collection of bud vases or something taller for a little more impact.
But we also have a real soft spot for long tables. They lend themselves perfectly to bud vases dotted along the length of the table, perhaps mixed with candles for the evening. Each little vase can hold just a few beautiful seasonal stems, and together they create that relaxed, gathered-from-the-garden look we love so much.
Making Your Flowers Work Throughout the Day
When we're planning wedding flowers, we're always thinking about the whole day rather than looking at each arrangement in isolation.
Could those beautiful ceremony urns be moved to frame the entrance to the reception? Could ceremony flowers have a second life around the venue later in the day?
It's a lovely way of creating impact while making the most of the flowers you've chosen.
